Gul celebrates Rogan Art!
Rogan Art is an ancient Persian textile art that came to India four centuries ago and has been revived by the eighth generation of a Khatri family settled in a small village Nirona in Kutch, Gujarat.
Rogan art uses a natural handmade paint on textiles. The paint is prepared by boiling castor oil for over 12 hours until it becomes a thick paste and then mixing it with mineral colors in a stone grinder called 'kharal'. The artisans then dip a metal stylus in this paint and place floral motifs on the cloth without even touching it.
And that makes Gul extraordinaire!
